Vacuum casting is a casting process for polyurethanes and elastomers using a vacuum to draw the liquid material into the mold. Vacuum casting is applicable for small runs of plastic parts. Typically these use silicone molds. Low volume parts (5-200 pieces) can be realized with this technology at very little financial investment. The parts simulate injection molded parts in look and appearance. Polyurethane (PU) plastic with properties ranging from elastomers to glass-filled nylon-like are possible, with several variations available.
Available materials are urethanes that resemble ABS, PP, HDPE, PA & PA-GF, and include Transparent PMMA-like PU and High temperature resistant PU,
UL-V0 flame-retardant PU and rubber, including PU’s ranging from 40-90 shore A.
Material used: Polyurethanes which resemble ABS, PP. Nylon, PMMA, Rubber etc.
Brands used: Axson, Innovative Polymers, and Nissn. Other well known formulations available upon request.
